Fullerton India Hacked, LockBit Leaks 600GB of Data
Fullerton India, a major lending company in India, was hacked by the LockBit ransomware group in early April 2023. The hackers listed the company on their Darknet blog and have now published all the leaked information, which includes loan agreements, customer and organizational account statuses, agreements with banks and financial institutions, data on international transfers, financial documents, mail correspondence, and personal data of customers. LockBit is known for double extortion, where they steal data before encrypting it and then ask for additional ransom to avoid publishing or selling the data. They are also known for launching DDoS attacks until the ransom is paid. Fullerton India has almost 700 branches in India, around 2.3 million customers, net assets of over 2.5 billion, and around 13,000 employees. The cybercriminals demanded $3 million to avoid publishing the data, but it is not clear if Fullerton India paid the ransom.
