New hVNC macOS Malware Advertised On Hacker Forum - #hVNC
A new Hidden Virtual Network Computing malware targeting macOS devices was discovered on a cybercrime forum and offered for sale in April 2023. The malware, named hVNC macOS, allows attackers to remotely access infected Apple computers. The malware has been tested on multiple versions of macOS and can run without requesting user permission. Once installed, the malware provides attackers access to sensitive user data like passwords, financial information and browsing history. Although the initial access is advertised for $60,000, the information obtained from compromised devices is likely much more valuable to cybercriminals. Apple device owners should enable strong passwords and two-factor authentication to reduce the risk of malware infection.
