Systems hack enables data theft, access for 8.9M MCNA Dental patients
A cyberattack on MCNA Dental, a dental benefits and services provider, led to the theft of health information of 8.9 million patients enrolled in Florida Healthy Kids Corporation (FHKC) and the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration's Medicaid insurance programs. This is the largest healthcare data breach reported by a single entity this year. The breach occurred between February 26 and March 7, with the discovery on March 6. Stolen data included names, contact details, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, health insurance plan data, conditions, diagnoses, treatments, and insurance claims. Idaho Falls Community Hospital, Mountain View Hospital, and partner clinics are recovering from a cyberattack that led to electronic health record downtime procedures. The hospitals have taken their network offline to limit the scope of the incident and protect patient information. Some clinics are closed, and Idaho Falls Community Hospital is diverting ambulances to nearby hospitals. Enzo Biochem, a New York biotech company, experienced a ransomware attack on April 6 that exposed clinical testing information of nearly 2.47 million patients. The company disconnected its systems from the internet and maintained operations through its incident response process. Albany ENT & Allergy Services notified around 224,000 patients that their data was likely accessed during a hack of its computer network between March 23 and April 4. The entity was listed on two ransomware group's dark web extortion sites in early May: RansomHouse and BianLian. Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers in Illinois is investigating a cybersecurity incident after the Royal Ransomware Group added the entity to its dark web extortion site. The hospital's security team detected unusual activity on the network, suggesting a threat actor gained access to its systems.
